About Donors for Life
The demand for blood, plasma and platelets is constant, and the need continues to grow. We encourage you to donate blood on a regular basis by joining the Donors for Life program!
When you join Donors for Life, you commit to making either 4 whole blood, 8 platelet or 12 plasma donations per year. As a member, you will receive exclusive benefits, including:
- Marking your achievement
As a special thank you for saving lives, you will receive a custom Donors for Life lapel pin each year that you reach your commitment level. These exclusive collectables are a way for you to show others how you make a difference in the lives of Canadians in need.
- Regular LifeLine e-newsletters
Get exclusive program news and keep up-to-date on the Canadian blood system by receiving LifeLine, the Donors for Life program e-newsletter.
- Stories to share
Read donor and recipient stories, and share your own personal experience by sending an e-mail to dfl@blood.ca. Your story might be featured on our Donors for Life community website and in an upcoming LifeLine e-newsletter.

How to join
Step 1: Choose your commitment level
You can work towards making:

4 whole blood donations per year,
|
|
|
8 platelet donations per year, OR
|
|
|
12 plasma donations per year.
|
Step 2: Sign up to the program!
There are three ways you can join the program:

- Complete an online registration form.
- Complete a Donors for Life registration form at your local blood donor clinic and present it to one of our Donor Services clinic staff, or
- Call 1 888 2 DONATE (1-888-236-6283).
