Where Does Blood Go?
Ever wonder what happens to your blood once you donate it?
If you tuned into the Discovery Channel Canada on Tuesday, January 31, 2006, the show "Daily Planet" went "behind the scenes" to track the path of a unit of blood, from the donor's arm, through testing, manufacturing and distribution.

On Television Online – Video Replay
If you missed it on television, you can see "behind the scenes" online.
You'll see how:
- our rigorous screening and testing ensures that donating and receiving blood is as safe as can be
- the manufacturing process takes every blood donation you make, and separates it into different parts that can help improve or even save the lives of up to three people
- our distribution ensures that we deliver the right product, to the right place at the right time, so that we continue to meet the need of Canadian hospitals and patients
- our staff and volunteers make the most of the gift of 850,000 units of blood that Canadians donated last year
