Malaria policy criteria
Our malaria policy impacts people who spend time in malaria-risk zones and people who have had malaria. The table below outlines this policy.

Eligible to donate blood three years after departure date from malaria-risk zone:

All components of your donation (red cells, platelets and plasma) can be used for transfusion. |

Not eligible to donate blood. |
* Those who wish to donate apheresis plasma donations (available at some Canadian Blood Services clinics) for the purpose of being sent to a fractionator may do so six months after departure from a malaria endemic area, regardless of the duration of their stay.
